Five Things Friday

The work week after having a long weekend is always the pits but thankfully it is finally Friday!! Here are 5 things that are whats up with me (I’m going to be one of those “cool hip moms” just you wait and see).

1. Captain America The Winter Soldier – I saw this movie with my Mom on Wednesday and it was so good! I have a soft spot for comic book characters though and (usually) enjoy (most of) the movies that come out about them. Spiderman lost me a couple franchises ago, and Wolverine is my favourite X-Men but for some reason I couldn’t be bothered to watch the newest movie but the majority of the movies that come out I enjoy.

2. My body has been craving crisp, raw vegetables for the past couple days and I have been making this salad for a few days straight now. Last night for dinner I made it with:

– 1/2 cucumber

– 2 peppers (one yellow, one red)

– 1 tomato

Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and voila! So delicious. I think Baby B may be obsessed with raw veggies just like I was as a kid. Seriously I used to eat green peppers like an apple.

3. Nursery Decor. I really want to push to get this done in the next couple weeks. Just like my wedding, I keep just going with pieces that I am drawn to and so far everything has a visible theme! Think light grey, off-white frames, and an homage to baseball. I am really digging these prints for our feature wall over the crib by ZeppiPrints on Etsy.

And I have been looking for some sweet baseball quotes to put on our frame wall that is going to go over the change table. The centerpiece of this frame wall will be one of the photos of our wedding party at the baseball field I just haven’t decided on what one yet.

4. Tomorrow I have the dreaded glucose test. This test is done when you are 26-28 weeks pregnant and screens for gestational diabetes by making you drink a super sugary orange drink in 5 minutes, waiting an hour, then they draw a bunch of blood. I have heard the baby just goes nuts for that hour and you feel like you can scale buildings the sugar high is so intense but then you crash…hard. So should be interesting. I made the appointment for early in the morning so I can have a good breakfast and then just get it over with.

5. Have I mentioned that I am going to the Backstreet Boys in 2 weeks!? WHAT?! Yes I am so excited. We have really good floor seats and I will be rockin’ a pretty major baby bump. I kind of want to have fun with it and make a shirt like this:

lukebryanExcept of course it will say Nick Carter instead of Luke Bryan. Or Brian Littrell. Either one would work for me 🙂

Other possible t-shirt options include:

“Future BSB Fan”

“It’s Brian’s” with an arrow (but get it?…cuz it is Brian’s…)

So imagine amazing shirt, giant baby bump, right up front, dancing like this:

twerkAmazing visual am I right? BTW that is AJ McLean twerking. If you do not know who that is we can no longer be friends.

Friday Faves

Gah I cannot believe it is already Friday and the last day in January! How did that month go by so quick? I thought I would fill ya’ll in on some things I am loving lately before the weekend kicks off.

1. Lunch with my momma. The server kept commenting how much we look alike, what do you think?

2. This

Maybe it is just because my hormones are on steroids right now but this seriously made me tear up. #sogonnadothis

3. My sister just rescued a little chihuahua and I cannot wait to meet her! Her name is Taro and I have a feeling that she is going to give me puppy fever to add to my existing baby fever.

4. I will be 15 weeks on Saturday and I think I see a bump! In order to make sure it is an actual bump and not just bloating though I will hold off on showing photos. No one wants to see bloated photos of themselves on the internet…

5. One of my favourite places on the internet that just “gets me” and my humour is this blog. One time Windy and I went through every single page giggling uncontrollably.

6. Brian sent this to me this morning. Totally made my day.

Have a great weekend!

Coffee Date

I think it is time for another coffee date! <Cue cheesy music>

coffee_date1So if we met up for a coffee (hot chocolate or any kind of adult beverage) date, this is what I would fill you in on:

Can you believe that Christmas is only TWELVE days away?! And today is Friday the 13th?! Friday the 13th is slightly less creepy today though because no crazy murderer is going to be wandering around the woods in -30 weather. Jason masks have absolutely no insulation either so his face would probably be covered in frostbite within the first 30 minutes. As well, no college students in their right mind would be camping in said woods in this weather to be easy pickings for the murderer so I think we are relatively safe. I think my logic is pretty sound 🙂

Last night I worked out for the first time this week and it was glorious! I also finished all the episodes available on Netflix of the Vampire Diaries so I am kind of pouting about that. 😦

Tonight Brian and I are doing Operation Rednose. If you aren’t familiar with it, basically it is volunteers who pick intoxicated people up from the bar and give them, and their car, a ride home for no charge (but donations are much appreciated! All proceeds go to support various athletic teams in the city. We are doing it on the Prairie Baseball Academy night, because Brian is alumni). Our shift is from 9:30 pm until 2:30 am so I am a bit nervous as my bedtime lately has been 8:45 pm… I may be having some cat naps in the back of our car during the lulls.

Two things I am loving right now:

1. THIS coat! humina humina humina it is so beautiful albeit a bit pricey.

2. This milk bottle measuring cup set. How adorable is this?!

So that’s it for me on this chilly Friday. What about you? What would you tell me about if we went for a coffee date?

Coffee Date

I love coffee. The smell, the flavour, the nostalgia it creates when you smell it first thing in the morning…ahhh. So since it is Friday and it is a long weekend, lets have a coffee date and have a chat. Grab your coffee and let’s begin (really any beverage will work, it is Friday after all so why not grab some wine or a cocktail? #yolo Since I am at work I will just stick with coffee though ;))

So what has been going on with me lately? Well since get back on the workout wagon my legs are now screaming at me today. It’ll get better though I know it is just because they got lazy. I still haven’t decided if I am going to push for a run tonight or not as I ended up running a 5 km last night. I may do some strength and make use of our makeshift weight room in our basement and give my knees a break.

My parents are hosting a family dinner this Sunday so I get to make pumpkin pie again! Yay! I just hope it turns out as well as last time and that it wasn’t just beginners luck.

This face makes me smile every single day.

I am really happy that this weekend is a long one because Brian and I have a lot to do around the house. We both really want to organize our storage room because it makes us both angry every time we have to get something out of it. And in the past this is where the mice would make their homes in the winter so we want to make it as inhospitable as possible for them. Speaking of mice, my car got an oil change this week and apparently I had mice living in my air filter as it was filled with mouse poop. I am just glad they didn’t chew through the wires or anything :/

Brian and I leave for Phoenix next Friday morning so we will probably be leaving late Thursday night as we are flying out of the States and there are too many variables if we wait until Friday morning to drive 3 hours and go through the border. With that in mind, next week is only a three day work week! Pretty excited! But being away all last weekend has made it clear that we need to start meal planning for during the week. We were scrambling to have enough for lunches this week and ended up eating out a couple times because we didn’t get a chance to go grocery shopping. In order to save money I think I will start meal planning on Sundays for the week so that I have an idea what to take out and what days I need to compensate with lunches. It’ll work out better for our budget I think. So do you have any tips on meal planning for me? Maybe I will turn it into a weekly post and we can all share meal ideas for the upcoming week 🙂

And I am still obsessed with the Vampire Diaries. It really is good! Give it a couple episodes before you judge me too harshly.

Also, my sister just sent me this link and it definitely made my morning:

So what is up with you? What beverage did you end up grabbing? In my mind this was a Starbucks date but I will take other suggestions too 😛
